Sequentials That Are Inconsequential...

A blog by Comicbook Artist Daniel Irizarri for the exposition, culture, and criticism of sequential art, also known as COMICS.

Here’s something outside the norm. I wrote a short film for my History of Film class last semester, and then the group made me act in it.

I’m going to go ahead and apologize in advance.

Whack-A-Doodle Dinner (by vdojenn)

A short film I worked on as Director of Photography and Video Editor. We had no money or professional actors so we worked around it making something completely absurd. If you watch and think “wow that was terrible, but it was funny,” then you get it.

I AM NOW OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS

Let me draw things for you!

As a graduating artist, being flung out into the work force, and as someone who’s life goal is to work in the world of comic books, I’m reaching out to you all and placing myself at your service. I just need your help to make some really cool art that’ll be all your own.

In terms of the illustration’s content, I reserve the right not to draw anything I consider tasteless or exploitative and so there isn’t any sort of disagreement, I’ll be the judge of when that’s the case or not. Instead, you can ask for something else or just not commission me.

Anything that isn’t mentioned in the above grid can easily be talked over after I’m contacted initially for the commission. (things like extra characters and details in the backgrounds)

For more information, you can all contact me at my ridiculously immature middle school e-mail: themagedaniel@hotmail.com

It’s been forever since the last Song of the Week so let me right that wrong with:

Myth by Beach House, off their album Bloom

“You’re giving up?”
“Hardly.  I’ve simply taken away your reason to continue fighting!”

I love Match so very, very much.
(Hey guys, want a gorgeous piece of art like this? The artist, Daniel Irizarri is still open for commissions!  Get you some!)

Looks like a happy customer!

The Paleskin Notebooksketchdump #01

Here’s something i’ve done to keep myself from going crazy during what little free time I have. Just random works on a 5”x8.5” inch notebook I stapled together.

Deadman Redux! digital painting.
I had been reading these really cool Deadman trades from the late 80s that I found at my comics shop the other day and I was just blown away by Kelley Jones’ art for the book. What shook me was his interpretation of the character. Just fascinating stuff that i couldn’t help but play with in my own work.
Hope you all enjoy!

I’ve been very absent and for that I apologize

I’m currently in an uphill battle to graduate in May and what time I have has been taken up by university projects and my day job as an illustrator. Thus any personal projects I’d love to be doing right now have been reluctantly put in the backseat in favor of that illusive, coveted and somewhat pointless diploma.

BUT, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!

I’ll soon be opening myself up to commissions of all kinds, as a means to keep myself afloat in this transitional period into the work force and the world of comics as a whole.

But wait, there’s more!

I’m also going to begin selling prints of my work for anyone who wants to purchase any piece that I’ve already made that might have caught your eye! *cough*the-super-kiss*cough*

So what I’m trying to say is…

Keep your eyes peeled this week for all the details, so you can get some cool art that I drew all for yourself!

here’s an early morning Song of The Week so you can start your week off proper. It’s actually 2 songs together:

Good Luck and Phone Call by Washed Out, so enjoy!
